In 2019, the Resource Sustainability Act (RSA) was introduced in Singapore. The RSA included a part related to Food Waste introducing a mandatory segregation of food waste for specific industrial and commercial building. On 8th March 2024, this section was repealed and re-introduced (https://sso.agc.gov.sg/Acts-Supp/14-2023/Published/20230428) alongside with the new regulation (https://sso.agc.gov.sg/SL/RSA2019-S194-2024). Zero Waste City is glad to release an updated factsheet regarding Singapore’s Mandatory Food Waste Segregation, Treatment, and Reporting. This regulation requires affected premises to separate food waste from other waste streams, ensure their proper treatment, and report the food waste quantities to the National Environment Agency (NEA).
