Mandatory Food Waste Segregation

What is the Mandatory Food Waste Segregation? It is a new regulation under the Resource Sustainability Act promoted by the Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources (MEWR) and the National Environment Agency (NEA). This new regulation will oblige operators of commercial and industrial premises to segregate their food waste from other waste streams and treat them as per the prescribed NEA guidelines. These premises, where large amount of food waste is generated, include large hotels and malls, food manufacturers, caterers, or storage warehouses. This will come into effect in 2024.
