The challenges facing Asia’s urban centres, from climate change vulnerability to mounting waste crises, took centre stage at the Cities: Possibilities 2025 by Eco-Business, in partnership with CapitaLand, Zurich Resilience Solutions and UNDP. Held on Wednesday, 26 November 2025, at Resorts World Sentosa, Singapore, it brought together global decision-makers to discuss how the region can move “from risk to resilience.”
A standout session, Plenary 3 – Innovations for a Resilient Circular economy, moderated by Rémi Cesaro, brought together key figures representing finance, technology, and operations in the sustainability sector:
- Prashant Singh, Co-Founder & CEO, Blue Planet Environmental Solutions
- Matt Stanelos, Country Representative Singapore, Veolia Southeast Asia
- Regula Schegg, Founding Partner and Chief Financial & Compliance Officer, Circulate Capital
The discussion focused on three core areas:
1. Stress Test: Resilience of the Waste Management Sector
The panel explored some of the learnings and impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on the waste management ecosystem.
2. Scaling Up: Limits to Material Circularity
The panellists brought forward the limits and opportunities associated with achieving “cradle-to-cradle” recycling of materials. The consensus highlighted that an alignment is essential between infrastructure, supply, demand, investment, and regulatory frameworks.
3. Driving Change: People and Technologies
The final segment addressed the critical role of technology in driving higher recycling rates, balanced against the indispensable role of human behaviour and social equity.
